Funding and leadership buy-in are two of the biggest enablers for delivering net zero. This session will give you practical strategies to secure support, unlock finance and keep momentum going.

Overview

Our network tells us that financing and leadership buy-in are among their biggest challenges. They’re also some of the most critical enablers for net zero across the board, because without strong cases for investment and sustained senior-level support, even the most ambitious targets risk stalling.

This session is designed to empower our members with practical ways to secure buy-in, unlock finance, and keep momentum through effective monitoring and reporting.

Across one focused hour, you will hear directly from experienced leaders and peers who have navigated these challenges in different contexts and can share what works in practice. The session will also include a live Q&A, giving you space to test ideas, ask questions, and learn from others across the network. What we’ll cover

The session will be chaired by Mel Andrews, WINZ Chair, and will feature:

Rachel Solomon Williams, Executive Director, Aldersgate Group: How to gain leadership buy-in

Rachel will discuss practical techniques for engaging senior leaders, winning support and embedding net zero into core decision-making.

Christine Zhou, Executive Director, Bankers Without Boundaries: Securing finance to enable delivery

Christine will discuss what funding options exist, and how to make a compelling business case to unlock them.

Milly Osborne, Decarbonisation Delivery Manager, London Fire Brigade: Tracking & monitoring progress to maintain buy-in

Milly will discuss approaches that not only measure success but also help you maintain buy-in and drive continuous improvement.

Why should I attend?

Our network says funding/financing is frequently a barrier to delivery of net zero projects.

In this short and accessible ’how to’ session we will discuss:

  • Practical communication strategies and techniques for engaging senior leaders, helping you secure the buy-in that is critical for success
  • An overview of the types of finance available to enable delivery
  • Approaches to measuring success so you can demonstrate progress, inform enhancements, and maintain the support of key stakeholders
  • Dedicated time for questions and discussion to support knowledge sharing across the network

“Funding availability is consistently raised as one of the biggest barriers to net zero delivery, by a wide range of different organisation types. I look forward to introducing a practical framework for participants to assess and navigate the financing options available to them.”

  • Christine Zhou
